UTM tags: how to track where your clicks come from

UTM tags are parameters in a link's URL that show which campaign, source and channel a click came from — so you know what actually works.

What a UTM is made of

The core parameters: utm_source (source), utm_medium (traffic type), utm_campaign (campaign), plus utm_term and utm_content.

Add tags to the target URL

Append parameters to the destination link, e.g. ?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=launch, then shorten it on lnk.tj.

Read the report

In the link analytics, clicks are grouped by source and UTM campaign — you can see which channel drives traffic.

Compare channels

Create a short link per channel (or use campaigns) and compare performance in one place.

FAQ

Do I write UTMs manually?

Yes — UTMs are added to the target URL; lnk.tj then recognizes them and groups clicks in analytics.

Does the visitor see the tags?

UTMs stay in the destination page's URL; the short link hides them until the redirect.
